Self reliance is a fundamental principle of mountaineering. By participating we accept this and take responsibility for the decisions we make. These Conditions Reports are intended to help you make good decisions. They do not remove the need for you to make your own judgements when out in the hills.

Twenty experts in botany, geology and mountain access gathered today for the training day of the 2015 North Face Survey. We went up to Coire na Ciste to get a refresher in using the excellent Field Move Clino app developed by Midland Valley geologists, a reminder in all the various plants, grasses and sedges we are looking for as well as a big abseil to get us all in the mood! Thanks to DMM for supplying the hardware and endless rope we need for such a big project.

We found some Alpine Meadow Grass  and a granite dyke cutting into the andesite of Ben Nevis under the Organ Pipes wall. A good start and a lot of fun to the main survey next week.
